Welcome

TUV NEL has launched a new industry focused Emissions Club to help tackle the issues associated with the measurement of greenhouse gas emissions.
TUV NEL kicks off CCS research project
It is essential that CO2 is accurately measured and accounted for throughout the CCS process, both for environmental purposes and for offsetting under the EU ETS when introduced during Phase 3. The project will investigate the measurement of CO2 from capture through to transportation and storage. This is an extremely important research project for UK industry which will help to establish practicable and achievable measurement solutions and guidelines to support forthcoming CCS legislation.

Emissions reporting provides a pivotal role in acquiring realistic environmental data and minimising financial exposure to stakeholders involved in international emissions trading schemes.
The overall aim of the club is to drive forward improvements to bridge the existing technology gap in emissions measurement and emissions reduction techniques.
Key objectives of the club are to:
- Bring together operators, equipment manufacturers, regulators and experts
- Provide up-to-date information on technological and legislative developments
- Promote industry-wide best practice in emissions measurement and reduction techniques
- Provide continuity in the interpretation of legislation and information
- Formulate technology improvement programmes
- Hold focus group meetings to discuss latest developments
It will provide a collaborative forum, which will assist industry to achieving the current and ongoing obligations in a cost effective way.
Next Meeting: April 2009 to be confirmed.
